You wrote that in that time there were two privat clinics: the “Malangsche Ziekenverpleging” in the district Kasin (which – you say - later became the Rumah Sakit Lavalette) AND the clinic in Rampal. I don’t understand this, because I think the Rumah Sakit Lavalette in fact WAS that clinic in Rampal (and I heard is still exists). I have read it was build there in 1913 (or in 1918, according to another article). The reason I’m interested in this is, that I am trying to locate the “Ziekenverpleging Kassin te Malang” where my father J.N. Seulijn was born on 29-09-1908. Until now I am not able to find the exact place. I know that there was a “small hospital” in Kasin in the “Sawahan Straat” (now Jl. Julius Usman). In 1929 the Catholic Mission took it over, rebuilded it and it became the “Rooms Katholiek Ziekenhuis”. Now it is the RS Panti Waluya Sawahan, see their site (Sejarah). Was this small hospital identical to the “Ziekenverpleging Kassin” or the “Malangsche Ziekenverpleging” or was the “Ziekenverpleging” located somewhere else in Kasin? And are you sure the “Malangsche Ziekenverpleging” later became the RS Lavalette in quite another part of town? I also hereby send a link to a picture, dating from about 1930, that is in possession of the “Tropen Museum” in Amsterdam. One says it is “a small hospital in Malang for the domestic people”. Can that be the one in the Sawahan Straat, before the Mission took it over? A lot of questions, I’m curieus if you know the answers…. Of course I would be very grateful if someone could help me. Lebaran kemarin saya pulang ke Malang. Hampir lima tahun saya tak menginjakkan kaki ke konta kelahiran saya (Jalan Raya Dinoyo, depan RSI. Sekarang jadi masjid/wakaf). Saya lihat Malang semakin semrawut, mulai dari arus lalulintasnya sampai hal-hal yang sangat fundamental (hawa dinginnya telah raib). Ini semua akibat ulah mereka-mereka yang tamak terhadap tanah/lahan. Bukit-bukit indah di kawasan Songoriti, Batu, banyak yang jadi rumah. Padahal seingat saya bukit-bukit atau gunung itu milik pemerintah. Kok bisa dijual? Semoga ke depan, gunungnya tidak hilang.... Met kenal Mas….

Lebaran kemarin saya pulang ke Malang. Hampir lima tahun saya tak menginjakkan kaki ke konta kelahiran saya (Jalan Raya Dinoyo, depan RSI. Sekarang jadi masjid/wakaf). Saya lihat Malang semakin semrawut, mulai dari arus lalulintasnya sampai hal-hal yang sangat fundamental (hawa dinginnya telah raib).
Ini semua akibat ulah mereka-mereka yang tamak terhadap tanah/lahan. Bukit-bukit indah di kawasan Songoriti, Batu, banyak yang jadi rumah. Padahal seingat saya bukit-bukit atau gunung itu milik pemerintah. Kok bisa dijual? Semoga ke depan, gunungnya tidak hilang….
